Individual Differences in Language Processing

You are invited to participate in a study being conducted through the School of Psychology at the University of Western Australia, under the supervision of Professor Colin MacLeod. The principal aim of the current study is to examine individual differences in lexical processing.

The study consists of a single experimental session, lasting no longer than one and a half an hour. The session will involve filling in several questionnaires assessing emotional experience, prior to completing a computer-based task. During the computer-based task, two flickering words will be displayed on a computer screen, your task is to determine which of the two words is related to a target word in each trial, and our speed and accuracy will be recorded. These words will be similar to those encountered in everyday mainstream media.

Your participation in this study is entirely voluntary and does not prejudice any right to compensation, which you may have under statute or the need to provide reason or justification, in which case records of your participation will be destroyed.
